NDP STATEMENT ON REPEAL OF BILL 28, FORD’S LEGISLATION ATTACKING EDUCATION WORKERS

Published on November 14, 2022

QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario NDP Education critic Chandra Pasma issued the following statement in response to the repeal of Bill 28, Doug Ford’s legislation attacking education workers:

“The repeal of Bill 28 is a victory for education workers, their allies in labour and all Ontarians who stood up for the rights of education workers who support our students’ safety and well-being in schools.

Doug Ford never should have introduced such harmful legislation, which unfairly imposed a contract on education workers, took away their rights and created disruption in our kids’ classrooms.

The NDP will be watching closely to see that the government negotiates in good faith at the bargaining table with the education workers our kids count on. We need to ensure education workers get a fair deal and a decent wage they can live on that allows them to keep supporting our kids in school.”
