ONTARIO NDP CALLS FOR SOLUTIONS AS FAMILIES AND CHILDREN CONTINUE TO STRUGGLE UNDER FORD’S WATCH

Published on August 9, 2024

HAMILTON – Monique Taylor (Hamilton Mountain), Ontario NDP critic for Children, Community and Social Services, is demanding better for children in care and their families who are being served by an underfunded Children’s Aid Society as Ford announces audit.

“Children and families deserve better than band aid solutions and a seriously underfunded system,” said Taylor. “It is disgraceful that Ford and his politicians have allowed children in care, their families, and the Children’s Aid Society workers to struggle for this long. We know that these agencies do not have the capacity or resources to keep these children safe and healthy by providing access to necessary services and programs.

“The audit into this system is long overdue, but we hope that the Premier does more than just offer platitudes. The Minister himself said ‘no child will be left behind,’ and we will make sure that he sticks to his word.”
