QUEEN’S PARK – MPP France Gélinas (Nickel Belt), Official Opposition NDP Health critic, released the following statement in response to the signing of a Federal health care funding deal for Ontario:
“Ontarians have been waiting over a year for the Ford government to sign this agreement for Federal funding to our health care system. Many people in Ontario have spent that time waiting in overcrowded ERs, waiting for overloaded ambulances, and waiting to see their family doctors. It’s about time that this deal was signed.
Conservatives have starved our healthcare system of resources, and have a habit of redirecting public health care dollars into the pockets of wealthy insiders. We don’t have enough clarity on how this Federal money will be distributed, and I am concerned that there are no specifications on how Conservatives can spend this vital funding.
After the past year of Conservative scandals, how can they be trusted with something this important?”
