Government of Ontario

Stop the Endless Construction Noise

TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:

WHEREAS the Ford government altered the lawful construction working hours to allow for a 6:00 AM start, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;

WHEREAS residents living near residential and commercial construction sites are jolted awake every morning by the sound of delivery trucks and other construction noise;

WHEREAS many residential and commercial construction projects are not truly essential, yet are still being given essential status amidst the COVID-19 pandemic;

THEREFORE, we the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:

reinstate the previous City of Toronto noise by-laws for construction hours for residential and commercial projects immediately without delay and stop the endless construction noise impacting the quality of life of Toronto residents.
