Ford's cuts to public health leaves people with less access to services, no where to turn with concerns: NDP

Published on June 29, 2021

SUDBURY –  NDP Health critic France Gélinas released the following statement responding to the Ontario ombudsman’s report on the province's public health units.

"Doug Ford's cuts to our public health units have left Ontarians with less urgent services during this pandemic, more concerns, and nowhere to turn to for help.

During this unprecedented health crisis everyone in Ontario has become aware about how critical our public health units are to our safety — but Doug Ford still doesn't want to invest in public health. He plans to make more cuts to public health and their vital services despite the concerns of many Ontarians who need more access to those services now.

Ford needs to reverse his cuts and invest in our pubic health units so Ontarians can have the public health services when and where they need it. And he needs to expand the mandate of the ombudsman to include health care."
