QUEEN’S PARK – Marit Stiles, the Leader of the Official Opposition NDP, shares the following message with Muslim Ontarians celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr:
“At sunset tonight, Muslim Ontarians across the province will mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations come after a month of fasting, reflection, and taking care of each other as a community. It is a time for people to come together with their families, neighbours, and loved ones to pray, feast, and spend time with one another.
Muslim communities here in Ontario are inspiring, caring, and an integral part of what makes our province so great. Eid is also an opportunity for us to celebrate the incredible contributions of Muslim Ontarians to our province – thank you for always demonstrating kindness, generosity, and a commitment to community.
We know that Ramadan has been difficult this year for many Muslim Ontarians, as communities have faced numerous incidents of targeted hate and violence. Ontario’s New Democrats stand with you as you navigate these difficult times, we hear you, and will continue fighting for an inclusive future where everyone in our province feels safe to practice their faith and spirituality.
From our families and the Ontario NDP, we would like to wish you and your loved ones a blessed Eid.
Eid Mubarak!”
