ONDP: FORD IN HIDING WHILE SENIORS WAIT FOR DENTAL CARE

Published on October 5, 2023

QUEEN’S PARK – NDP MPP Catherine Fife (Waterloo) questioned the Ford Conservatives on the abysmal state of the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program in Legislature today – and received no answers from an absent Doug Ford.

“The Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program has been a failure since this government created it in 2019,” said Fife. “Seniors are cutoff from the program if they make over $22,000 – an income that is far below the poverty line. That means thousands of seniors are left without care.”

There are 1,281 seniors waiting for dental care in Waterloo Region, with an average wait time of two years.

“The Ford government should be ashamed that their flawed program continues to cause immense stress for older adults in Ontario. They seem to be content with a flawed dental program, that leaves Ontario Seniors either stranded on a waitlist or bumped off entirely, never receiving the care they deserve”.

Ford did not show up to question period today.
