PREMIER’S SILENCE ON GRASSY NARROWS STUDY APPALLING: NDP

Published on May 24, 2024

TORONTO — Ontario NDP leader Marit Stiles issued the following statement on Doug Ford’s silence in response to a new study showing mercury poisoning near Grassy Narrows First Nation has been worsened by ongoing industrial pollution:

“Doug Ford’s silence in the face of the news that the poisoning of the people of Grassy Narrows First Nation has been exacerbated is appalling.

The people of Grassy Narrows deserve to hear directly from the Premier with commitments to take urgent action to close the Dryden paper mill and clean the Wabigoon River.

The consequences of government inaction will continue to be deadly.”
