TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:
Whereas Ontarians are experiencing a cost-of-living crisis driven by low wages and corporate greed,
Whereas costs associated with the climate crisis are also increasing, including grocery and insurance prices, infrastructure damage, and natural disaster responses,
Whereas the Conservative government has made the climate crisis worse and more expensive by eliminating funding to make homes more energy efficient, cancelling clean energy projects, and removing protections from farmlands,
Therefore, we the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly to call on the Ontario government, in partnership with the federal government, to subsidize the cost of heat pumps and other energy-saving retrofits for all Ontarians, whether they heat by propane, fuel oil, or gas, in order to cut greenhouse gas emissions and reduce energy bills.
